I had the pleasure of being interviewed by James E. Griffiths. Here is the interview and you can go to his website and check out other Author interviews as well as some of James’ work! https://www.jamesegriffiths.com

Name:  April M Woodard

Books: The Aeon Chronicles (Book 1) Debut May

Genre: Sci-Fi Fantasy Romance

What made you want to become a writer?

Ever since I was a kid I wrote stories and poetry. It wasn’t until about five years ago I decided I would take my stories seriously. When I found out a person could self-publish without needing an agent or a publishing company I knew I could one day achieve the title of ‘Author’. Two years ago, I started on the first draft of The Aeon Chronicles. I’m now only about a month away from publishing my debut.

Where did the idea for your current project come from?

Honestly, this work is from all the questions people ask in life. I myself was asking these same questions. Is there such a thing as destiny? What is the purpose of life? Do soul mates exist? I like to know the answers to ‘why’ so I began researching! Not too long after I had a dream about a vivid story and the idea for The Aeon Chronicles was born!

What is your current project?

I am currently in the last stages before publishing book 1 of my series. There is no more writing involved, just editing and formatting the front and back matter. I also have scheduled a meeting with my cover artist to do the paper back version! It is so exciting and I can’t wait to hold my book baby in my hands! I’m also drafting book two! Right? Well I kill all my characters off in the first book so I can’t make my readers wait to long! Time to revive them in book 2!

What can you tell us about your current project?

Book 1 is basically a story about a fallen Seraph (angel) and his rebellion. The war has begun; a war of truth and lies. My three main characters are caught in the middle! My main character must decide if she will choose the one who betrayed her king or the one who was sent to protect her from those who have fallen and the cunning fallen Seraph, Aalok!

This first book will be published in May (fingers crossed everything goes smooth!)

What have you found most challenging in your writing journey?

I think the hardest thing about this journey has been learning how to do it on my own. When you go to self-publish, you are starting a business. You have to do all the writing and marketing, find the editor, hire a cover artist, etc. It is a lot on the ‘to do’ list. Time has been my biggest issue. I’m not just a writer but a mother, home-school teacher. Balancing family and my passion for writing has been difficult at times. I’m very grateful my husband and children understand and support me. I also joined Author Like A Boss. My writing coaches have been amazing and I don’t know what I would have done without the writing tribe in our group!

Who is your favorite author?

One of my favorite authors is Marissa Meyer. Her series The Lunar Chronicles is by far one of my favorite stories and retellings right now!

I am also a huge fan of Sarah J. Maas!

What is your favorite book?

I have to say The Neverending Story! That book for me as a child just really made an impact on me.  Besides who wouldn’t want their own Luck Dragon?

If you could have drinks and dinner with any character from any book who would you choose and why?

Oh! Wow! This question is harder than the last!

Rhysand from A Court of Thorns and Roses.

Maybe after dinner and drinks, he could fly me to Valaris!

Lastly what advice do you have for writers out there?

I want to thank April for taking the time to do this interview, I will admit I was looking forward to this interview a great deal, as the genre of April’s book caught my interest and then seeing that her name is the same as my eldest daughters’ well what can I say.
